Tasmania with Kids
Our full 17-day Tasmania trip, plus the day trips and stops that made it work: Hobart, Bruny Island, Maria Island, and Huon Valley, all tested with a 3-year-old.
AN ISLAND WORTH SLOWING DOWN FOR
Why Tasmania works for families
Tasmania is where slow travel makes the most sense. Short drives between towns, wildlife encounters that don’t require a tour bus, and a pace of life that matches a toddler’s better than almost anywhere else we’ve been. Seventeen days gave us time to settle into places rather than rush through them, Hobart’s waterfront, Bruny Island’s wildlife, Maria Island’s quiet trails, and Huon Valley’s orchards.
