OUR STORY

We didn't wait for the "perfect time" to travel with kids. We just started.

Destination guides, gear reviews, and custom itineraries, all written by parents who’ve been there with a young kid.

As family travel bloggers, we used to be the ones staring at travel brochures, wondering how people “did it.” The logistics seemed like a mountain too high to climb, the gear, the naps, the picky eaters, and the budget.

Then came our first big trip. It wasn’t perfect. There was a lost teddy bear in Terminal 3 and a few minor meltdowns, but there was also the look on our daughter’s face when she saw the ocean for the first time.

Really Traveling was born from that realisation: the logistics shouldn’t stop the memories. We started this site to document the messy, beautiful reality of family exploration and to give you the exact blueprints we use to make it happen.

Winner, Key to South Bank, South Bank Corporation, 2026

In 2026, South Bank Corporation named us winners of the Key to South Bank, a competition recognising the most creative local guide to South Bank Brisbane, awarded for authentic, family-first content. See the official announcementLinkedIn, or Instagram.

Family travel bloggers, where we stand today

We’re family travel bloggers still early in our social media following, but our biggest asset is our SEO strategy across the blog itself. Every trip and experience on this site is ours, not borrowed from someone else’s blog or press release, and most of the photography here is our own.

⚠️ Reality: The Case of the Missing Pull-Up

We’re all about logistics, but sometimes… life happens. On our last night at an Airbnb, we forgot the golden rule of toilet-training a toddler during travel: always wear the pull-up to bed. We woke up on departure day to a very wet bed and a 7:00 AM departure time looming.

We spent our final hours frantically running the washing machine and writing an apology message to our host! At least it didn’t get through to the electric blanket!

The Lesson: We survived, the Airbnb hosts were legends, and the blanket was spared. As family travel bloggers, our Pro tip is simple: pack a disposable bed protector or never skip the night-time nappy, no matter how well toilet training is going!

Family Travel Jomana

Jomana | The Mastermind

travel planning

The brains behind the “how.” Jomana is a wizard at finding flight connections and those “how-did-she-find-this?” hidden gems, planning is her happy place.

Before immigrating to Australia, she’d already travelled to 13 countries, including solo trips across the Philippines and Vietnam, trips that taught her to travel street smart and shaped her love for sustainable tourism, supporting locals, farm-to-table dining, and immersive stays over rushing between places.

Family Travel Murray

Murray | The Fixer

travel logistics

While Jomana builds the map, Murray navigates the terrain. He handles the day-to-day execution, getting us from A to B, managing the heavy bags, and making sure the plan happens. And when it doesn’t, which happens a lot when you’re travelling with a small kid, he’s the one who adjusts without missing a beat.

Murray is the logistics expert of the family: transfers, check-ins, luggage, schedules, all the details that make or break a travel day. He’s organised trips across several countries, including Ethiopia and India, and brings that same level of detail to every Really Traveling itinerary.

Our Girl | Vibe Checker

family travel vibe checker

Our primary consultant on playgrounds, snacks, and “are we there yet?” Our daughter keeps us grounded and reminds us that while the destination is great, the ice cream shop around the corner is just as important. She’s the heart of our “why.” She’s also the reason we never skip a toilet stop.

"Dad, why do you love EVERYTHING?"

"Don't hold your pee otherwise your body will burst."
